I wrote this two years ago, as well as the previous poem.

Posession stands scarcely
As emptiness holds;
Heroism is tainted
As the story unfolds.
Young boys off to war
Return not as men,
But as children with puppies
And things that I've been.

Young women hold close
The things that they know.
Wounds never healed,
and stitches never sewn.
They love only dolls
And pineing for boys.
Other things that they see
Can bring them no joys.

This black rose has stopped
A tear in the making.
May the story books tell it
A gift not a taking.
He holds truth the dearest,
His family nearest,
Knows only their faith,
Unmistaking.
